How we make a stainless steel gate at the Phu Phong workshop

From survey, templating, cutting, welding, grinding and polishing to installation: the steps of making a complete stainless steel gate at the Phu Phong workshop.

Many customers ask how a stainless steel gate is made and how long it takes. This article describes the 7-step process at the Phu Phong workshop in Long Xuyen.

Step 1: Survey and consultation

Our team comes to your site to measure the gate, check the terrain, the gate posts, the swing of the leaves and the direction of sun and rain. We recommend a design that suits the architecture of your house and your budget. The survey is completely free.

Step 2: Confirm the design and quote

The customer chooses the pattern, 201 or 304 stainless steel, and the tube thickness. The detailed quote states the material, dimensions, accessories, timeline and warranty. A deposit of about 30% is required to start.

Step 3: Cutting and bending

Stainless steel tubes, box sections and sheets are cut to size with a cutting machine. Curved parts and patterns are bent using forms so they come out uniform.

Step 4: Welding the frame and fitting the pattern

Our welders use TIG welding under argon shielding gas for clean welds with little scorching. The leaf frames are welded first, then the pattern, vertical bars and horizontal bars are assembled.

Step 5: Grinding and polishing

Welds are ground flat, then machine-polished through successive grit levels to reach a mirror or brushed finish as requested. This step determines the final look of the gate.

Step 6: Inspection at the workshop

The gate is test-assembled, and we check levelness, flatness, gaps and hinges. Customers can visit the workshop to see it before delivery.

Step 7: Transport and installation

We deliver and install on site, adjusting the hinges and fitting the lock and, for sliding gates, the wheels. After handover, our team cleans up the site.

Build time

A standard gate takes about 5 to 10 working days. Gates with complex patterns, or automatic gates, can take longer.
